Arts, Crafts and Markets

arts and craft markets in Christchurch

Christchurch has several boutique shopping areas throughout the city.

Our region abounds with delicious produce and wonderful raw materials – talented craftspeople and farmers turn their hand to creating unique “Gate to Plate” delicacies such as cheese, olive oil, speciality breads, lavender balms, honey, preserves and sausages.

Artists produce unique souvenirs from clothing to pottery, painted or hand blown glass as well as knitted or woven items from world renowned New Zealand wool.

Markets occur in most places on one day of the week, such as the Christchurch Farmers Market set in the grounds of the historic Riccarton House on Saturdays and Sundays, the Boulevard Arts Market from Wednesday to Sunday or the rural markets at Ohoka (Friday), Oxford (Sunday) and Waipara Valley Farmers’ Market (Saturday).
